Mighty thirds .....preseason surprise
For the first time in a decade the mighty thirds won a preseason game beating Sonning 5-2 on Saturday. Sonning who play a league higher in the mbbo proved good competition but were blown away by a consistent performance by an on fire thirds
It was clear some of the magic was simply the 'kids' coming of age....now being better players than their parents. No names but Tom, Sam and Max you know its true. Max scored two goals - one was pure genius and the older generation represented by edward gurney showed him flattery indeed by copying with a glorious effort of his own
Debuts for Dan Guru-Passing-Maestro-Best and Ash Tree went nearly unnoticed. They looked like they had played at this level for years. DGPMB especially showing the rest what a well measured pass looked like
Phil Collis beating back the years in goal was measured and complimented the team at half time in a speech many had not heard before ....no swear words or choice phrases about removing peoples parts for not marking
The Collins/Battye post game discussion highlighted the fact both enjoyed in the past being train spotters and how relevant that disciple is when applied to the modern day hockey rules ....they were happy so let's leave it there
Anyway - next week a new challenge let's see what the mighty thirds can deliver up
